Walentin, Charlotte

Charlotte Walentin’s work subversively explores the idea of borders. Often, transparent surfaces act as divisions, though these surfaces’ authority is undermined and perverted. Intrusions of paint, thread and other mediums are used in order to sprout through and crack the little sheet of glass that coveres the cell cosmos that the microscope wants to focus in on. The sheet of glass may perhaps be representative of perception itself.
