Thelander, Martin

Martin Thelander’s work is often characterized by the way his pieces are similar to statements or opinions. He starts off with such statements as a kind of still life, putting them to work in his creations. During his creative process he tests, changes and moves these statements. Thelander is influenced by the use of advertising slogans by pop artists, though he generates a more personal and private imagery. His works stir ones thoughts and linger in ones mind.

Martin Thelander was born in 1971 in Stockholm, where he now lives and works. He has previously lived in Paris, New York and Helsinki, and has studied at the Art Academy in Stockholm.
