Richard Johansson

East goes West

Richard completed his art studies in 1994 at Malmö konstskola Forum,
in sculpture and painting.
He has been working together with Galleri Magnus Karlsson in Stockholm since 1995.

About the current exhibition "East goes West" the artist writes:

I am a person that does not like to physically travel. However, I travel a lot in my imagination.
In the works that are presented here in this exhibit, you find a motley collection of people and places. Here may be found political childhood heroes, mysterious places and experienced feelings and moments, for example.

My creations can perhaps be seen as a substitute for all the travels I do not go on.

When it comes down to it, "East goes West" is perhaps most of all, a self portrait.
